The Word, My Anchor

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:12-13

I am so grateful for the Word of God, which is an anchor for my soul.  How many moments have I been stopped in my tracks as I have read from the Bible and been convicted in some way I have been walking?  I can hardly recount.   We know the Word perfectly reflects the heart of God, because Jesus IS the Word made flesh and He and the Father are one.  Sometimes it’s hard to know how to follow Jesus.  Sometimes I get lost and confused about which way is His.  In a world where there are so many choices to make, so many paths to choose…the Word of God offers stability, truth and wisdom far beyond what I could ever hope to grasp on my own.

In a world that is tangible but carnal, and a Kingdom that is spiritual but unseen, the Bible is something I can grasp with my hand, understand with my mind, and from it I can discern spiritual truths and better understand the nature of God.  Thank you Lord, for revealing Yourself to us in your Word and for helping us discover our own condition as we examine Your Word so that we might have a chance to move ever closer to your higher ways and thoughts.
