Submit to One Another

Sometimes it’s just easier to do things on your own. I am definitely not a loner, but know a few. It is possible that some tasks in life can be easier completed by yourself, but life itself is not meant to go alone. Not only that, but we’re not supposed to be in charge in every situation.

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility,

1 Peter 5:5, NKJV

Submitting to our elders is kind of a no-brainer. Lessons come quickly from those who have walked before us. But the second part of that verse says to submit to one another. My husband said it this way the other day, “Everyone has an elder and everyone is an elder.” Submission goes both directions, up and down.

The easiest way to accomplish this is to submit to the Lord first, then all other relationships fall into place. When we allow Him to be in charge, then we’re automatically out of the way and on an even playing field with those around us.

Stop looking out for number one and make God number one!
