Seeing God

No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

1 John 4:12-16

How do the people in your life see God? Is God on display in how you love them? Do they see Jesus, or just you?

Are we living by the Spirit or the flesh? Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the “renewing” of our mind. Here’s a fun lesson in the English language: the “ing” changes the tense of “renew” to a present participle. This changes the standard verb into a verbal adjective to describe the present action. What’s that mean? You don’t just “renew” your mind, but must be “renewing” it. This is a regular action.

So, back to my original question. Are the people around you seeing God, or just you?
