Say YES to God

David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.  Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.”

1 Samuel 17:32-33

Like David facing Goliath, everything in the natural seems poised against us at times.  We are thrust into a situation in which we seem like the most unlikely person for a job.  Sometimes we are the last person qualified to do the job, but no one else is available or willing. I love that David said yes anyway, leaning on the grace and power of God to come through for him since his natural gifts didn’t seem like they were going to cut it. He ran toward his enemy even though everyone around him (including Goliath) saw him running toward a death sentence.  Spoiler alert: David didn’t die; God empowered his sub-par natural gifts and talents to inflict a grievous blow to Goliath that resulted in his death instead. But that act required David’s YES.

I pray that in our day-to-day lives we would be unafraid to trust God and to say YES to Him and obey in the midst of overwhelming circumstances that rise against us.
