Responsibilities of One Who is Born of God: Part 2

4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1 John 5:4-5 ESV

God is greater than the world; after all, He is the Creator and Maker of Heaven and Earth.  He most certainly has dominion over the whole of creation, including the world that may be temporarily occupied and operated by the evil one and his spirit of antichrist.  And it is through God’s power and might, when we are hidden in Christ and born of God, that we also overcome the world.  All the eternal things and people of God will reign victorious with Him at the end of the age!  This is encouraging in times when we don’t feel so victorious, or feel like we’re overcoming in our present days.  Our intact faith that refuses to give in, to give up, or falter in the midst of challenging circumstances is the victory we have in Christ.  We are to hold fast to our confession of our hope without wavering (Hebrews 10:23)  regardless of the circumstances that threaten to swallow us whole; indeed, our faith in Christ will outlast the world and all its follies.  Those who are born of God will not be snatched away from His hand; our final responsibility is to be held fast by the arm of God as we contend earnestly for the faith that was once and for all entrusted to God’s holy people (Jude 1:3).
