Outside Looking In

But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. 11 And He said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, 12 so that ‘Seeing they may see and not perceive, And hearing they may hear and not understand; Lest they should turn, And their sins be forgiven them.’”

Mark 4:10-12 NKJV

Before the Holy Spirit entered into my heart the Bible always looked like a book of tales. Cautionary tales to steer one towards a life of good works and away from Hell. When intimacy entered the picture and I gained knowledge of true love and compassion, the Bible became a living breathing work of art. Not meant to condemn me but to thrust me forward into a life of salvation and prosperity.

When we are on the “outside looking in” the Bible is just a book of stories. It’s when we embrace the Father that the words come to life and push forth an experience like no other. True intimacy. Bold, fiery, humble, scream from the top of a mountain love and witness. We no longer have the privilege of ignorance but a true and honest relationship that says, “I want you. All of you. And nothing less.” No longer should we be just outside the window but seated at the table alongside our Father in Heaven and able to experience heaven with the master of all.

Won’t you come out of the cold and sit at the table?
