Endure Well

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2

I hear people say things like this all the time, “I don’t need to worry about that, I’ve got Jesus.” Yes, the Holy Spirit gives us authority over the enemy. But no, that doesn’t make you immune from coming against ANY kind of hardship. Jesus literally told the disciples they would endure hardship (see John 15).

If we are running the race set before us by Jesus, we’re going to jump every hurdle He jumped. Hebrews 2:14-18 tells us Jesus endured every trial and temptation we would ever come against. He did so to prove that human flesh, filled with the Holy Spirit, can endure. I’m writing today because I don’t believe we endure well today. We whine, moan, and often complain when we don’t feel like we’re living our best Christian life.

Are you enduring this week? Are you enduring well?
