Cry Out in Comfort Too

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Entreat the Lord that He may take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to the Lord.”

But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not heed them, as the Lord had said.  Exodus 8:8, 15 NKJV

Isn’t it amazing how in one breath we can cry out to the Lord in a time of crisis, yet in the next moment be hardened to the Lord when we have felt relief from our affliction?  In the same way it is difficult for a rich man to turn to God and not to trust in his riches, so is it equally difficult for a comfortable man to depend upon the Lord outside of tribulation.

Lord, help us be open to You in good times and in bad, and to seek You in peace and comfortable moments as well as trials and tribulations.  Let us not be a people who only cry out to You in distress, but to praise You in our thoughts, words and actions when everything is A-OK.
