Clash of the Wills

13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles. 14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.

Romans 1:13-15, ESV

Prevention is often God’s providence at work in our lives. It is how God thwarts our disjointed efforts to obtain what we wish over what He has ordered. We spend many hours contemplating the why’s of being prevented from doing what our heart desires, with little consideration to God’s providential involvement. In this cataclysmic clash of wills, only God’s will remains. Find solace in knowing God is sovereignly and continually at work regardless of how it makes you feel.
