Alabaster Life

And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, 38 and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.

Luke 7:37-38 ESV

We’re introducing the song below this week at Echo Church. Well… by the time you read this, we would have already introduced it. I’ve spent some time this week focusing on the alabaster flask the woman had.

Our lives are nothing but wasted time if we fail to realize the potential we have in Christ. Like that flask, we possess great power and authority if we are willing to be poured out at the feet of Jesus. Our priorities, our agendas, our purpose, our pride… all poured out. What if we really took God at His Word and lived our entire life as if we were living unto Christ? Jesus declared we have the power and authority to do even greater things than His disciples saw Him do (John 14:12). The reason Christians don’t see this kind of authority is simple. We’re not poured out. We’re living unto ourselves… but doing it “in Jesus’ name”.
