Absolute Truth is the Knowledge of God

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

So, let’s break this down a little bit. We know that Jesus Christ, being God, is also the truth, and is the true way to God, the true representative, image, character, of the Father. This means that eminently, God is truth; that is, in Him is no fallacy, deception, perverseness, etc.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, who communicates truth, who maintains the truth in believers, guides them in the truth, and who hates and punishes falsehood or lies.

In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word “truth” means “firmness or stability.”

In the New Testament, the Greek word “truth” has the fundamental meaning of reality, as opposed to the mere appearance or false pretense.

The primary idea of firmness and stability is where we can begin to understand that we can in reality know that with God there is always a faithfulness that we can trust in.

This is why the Bible says, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5) (ESV)

We can always bank on it!
