Willing Heart

How many of you have Christmas trees at home? It takes a long time to set up one of these trees, doesn’t it? All those branches have to come out of the box, be sorted, be put on the pole, and be fluffed before you can decorate the tree. Once the brackets on the pole and the branches start to break, the tree is ruined, and the branches become useless.

Or do they? I know a branch doesn’t look like much apart from the tree, but if we’re willing to give it a chance, it can have a second life as a Christmas decoration. The branch seemed useless at first, but I turned it into a decoration for my mantle.

No matter how small or unimportant you may sometimes feel, you are all special to God. God will never throw any of us away like an old Christmas tree branch. If we have a willing heart, God can do something special in our lives.

Like Mary (Luke 1:26-38), we can be God’s servants, and we can share the love of Jesus with others. As we approach the Christmas season, I want to encourage you to ask God for a willing heart, and ask him to show you how he can use you to share Jesus with your friends and your community. If we have a willing heart, God will always use us!
