The Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon in Judges 6:12, 14-15 and said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior…Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand.” Gideon replied, “Pardon me, my lord, but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
Sometimes, when God shows you who you are, your first reaction is to respond by saying, “No I’m Not”.
I’m not a warrior.
I’m not called to be that.
I’m not called to do that.
I’m not capable of that.
I’m not worthy of that.
I’m not beautiful enough.
I’m not a lovable person.
But how God sees you isn’t based on where you come from or how you perform.
It’s solely based on the potential He has placed inside you.
God doesn’t make a judgment based on your lowest moments in life.
He judges you based on your calling.
God does not weigh your life on what you have done for Him.
God weighs a believers life based on what Jesus did and who Jesus is.
And that’s the only thing that matters. God knew who you where and what you would do before the foundations of the world. In other words, God doesn’t stand back in amazement when we have feelings of inadequacy.
God wasn’t shocked when Abraham told Him, “I’m too old”.
God wasn’t shocked when Moses told Him, “I’m a stutterer”.
God wasn’t shocked when Gideon told Him, “I’m the weakest person in the weakest clan”.
And none of them changed God’s mind.
When God speaks over your life there is no second opinion. Especially your own. And as shocking as it may seem you’re not the world’s leading expert on yourself. GOD IS. He custom-designed you from before the time you were born into this world. You’re not even the leading expert on your worth before God. GOD IS. And He has made you worthy in and through His Son Jesus Christ.
So when God shows you who you are, and you respond by saying “No I’m Not”, Remember who it is that created you and take Gods word for it.
