Love… Love… Love…

Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm. (1 Timothy 1:5-7, NKJV)

As Christ followers (not just the church leaders… all of us), everything we do should stem from love. Love from God, for us, to give to others. Any other motive will distract and misguide. The Apostle Paul taught several times on the importance of love (1 Corinthians 13:13). Love kept Paul going. It gave him the strength to endure chains, beatings, imprisonment. Not just love for His God, but love for people. It drove everything he did. When we walk daily seeking out how to best love the people around us, we become the most excellent representation of Christ. Love for people was HIS motivation.

So… stop what you’re doing for just a moment. When you finish reading this post, take a look around you. Literally. Look around. Who are you surrounded by? How can you best show them the love of Jesus Christ today?
