My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Ask yourself this question. “Am I seeking joy or happiness?” Happiness is a temporal emotion that come and go throughout the course of the day. I got to enjoy an epic movie night with my family Sunday evening. I made 4 different flavors of home made popcorn. Everyone was happy. At the end of the evening, the kids had to go to bed and I had to clean the living room after the epic popcorn fiasco. The happiness had left the building. However, our evening was full of joy. We got to spend some much needed family time together. Lacey and I prayed over our children and they slept soundly in their beds.
Many seek happiness over joy because it’s easier to attain. Happiness avoids hard moments. Joy can be present in the hard moments. Which are you pursuing?
